The Data Science Project on Labour Market Intelligence (LMI) is an initiative under the supervision of Royal Office for Media, His Majesty’s Secretariat. The LMI System is developed with support from the Department of Information Technology and Telecom, Ministry of Information and Communications.

Purpose:

The purpose of this project is to develop an inclusive LMI System which will function as the central interface and a dissemination tool for all information on the labour market institutions in Bhutan. Various government and non-government data systems are being integrated to provide easy access to real-time labour market data and enhance advance data analytics to ensure data-driven decision making. The multidimensional system with enourmous volumes of data repository is expected to evolve into a big data platform and the use of data science and machine learning techniques will be applied to provide insights into predicting trends in the labour market and prepare the workforce in line with the labour market scenario.

Project Description:

The project is split into four areas of focus. The target sectors are further categorized into multiple phases to ensure the system is developed holistically and captures the whole labour market institution. The project comprises of two core working groups viz. the Data Engineering Team and the Data Science Team. The Cross Industry Process for Data Mining (CRISP-DM) framework is the core methodology utilized to ensure that the project explicitly views the data analytics process from both an application-focused and a technical perspective. The CRISP-DM process includes business understanding, data understanding, data preparation, machine learning models, evaluation and deployment.
